Artist Statement
My paintings are like visual poems. I get inspiration and information from structures and
patterns found in nature. I like to combine people-made objects and structures with
objects that are found in the natural world.
Drawing plays a big role in my creative process. Even though my work is primarily
abstract, I often include motifs and visual clues from my surroundings that help to inform
the viewer of what the painting is about.
I often start a piece with something in mind. As the painting evolves my thinking evolves
along with it and eventually the painting takes on its own reality that is parallel to the
physical world. Ultimately, I am internalizing the visual and material world and arriving at
more ambiguous, poetic and metaphorical reality.
I am an artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. I have had several one-person shows,
and I also exhibit my work in many group shows in the New York area.
